The NFL’s announcement on Wednesday that it will be installing a swimming pool in Los Angeles, California has prompted some interesting comments.
First, what does this mean for players?
Players can use the new pool at home and practice.
The pool can be rented out to players and their family members for the season.
Second, what is the name of the pool?
The pool is named after Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
The Dodgers name is also an homage to Dodgers owner Stan Kroenke, who was born in California and raised in the Los Angeles area.
Kershaw’s name also makes sense because he was the first pitcher to throw a no-hitter, the only player to do so and the only pitcher to do it in his career.
But, there’s also a reason why the Dodgers name was chosen: Kershaw won seven Gold Gloves, and the Dodgers won the World Series in 2013.
Kerhaw is also the first player to throw at least 1,000 pitches, a record for a pitcher.
He also is the only one to throw in the National League, and only the second pitcher to go over 1,200 innings and throw at a league-average rate.
He is the first to throw his first career no-hit ball, a 1-0 fastball that the Dodgers scored in the eighth inning of Game 5 of the 2014 NLDS against the Cubs.
He’s also the only MLB pitcher to toss an inning of a no game, a win, no-loss and a save.
Kerners name also also is an homage and a reminder to a man named Clayton Kersfield, the pitcher who led the National Football League to a Super Bowl victory in 2010 and is still playing for the Los Angels of Anaheim today.
The name of Kersfield’s son was also chosen.
The pool will be installed by the Los Angles Department of Water and Power and is scheduled to open to the public in March 2019.
