Which NBA team has the best dunk contest?
Posted On July 8, 2021
When the summer of 2016 opened, it was obvious that the NBA was heading toward a new era of dunk contest competition.
As the league celebrated its 50th anniversary, the first dunk contest in the history of the NBA became a way to showcase some of the league’s greatest stars.
That was exactly what was meant when teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs entered the competition, and that’s exactly what they did.
In the history books, the dunk contest has only ever been contested in the NBA Finals and has only been contested between two teams.
The NBA is in a league of its own, and for the first time, the two teams competing in this year’s Dunk Contest were the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Stars.
In their first meeting, the Heat took control in the third quarter, getting to the rim in just three seconds to put Miami up 3-1.
On the next possession, the Stars made their way to the basket, and in less than two minutes, they went back to the starting lineup.
With no one on the floor for much of the second half, the stars put Miami away in the last minute of the quarter.
It was a dominant performance by the Heat, but it was just one of a number of dominant performances from the Stars.
The Stars had one of their best games of the season in the second quarter, going over 20 points for the fourth straight game, leading to an overtime win for the Stars on the road.
It’s a huge win for both teams, as the Stars have now won six straight games, including a five-game sweep of the Stars last season.
The Heat have also won five straight against the Stars, including four straight over the last three years.
The two teams are both on the verge of their fourth straight conference finals, with Miami leading the series 2-1 heading into the second game.
That would be the Heat’s third straight conference championship, but they have also lost in the finals three straight times.
The three-game series is tied 2-2 in the series standings, but the Stars are a little better on the other side of the bracket.
The Dallas Stars have won four straight games against the Miami Hurricanes, but this season, the Hurricanes are 0-3 against the Hurricanes in their past six games.
The teams have played one game each this season.
Miami has won six of the last seven meetings, including the Heat two of their four losses.
Miami is playing the Stars for the third time this season in a series that is tied at two games apiece, as well.
This is the first meeting between these two teams, and the Stars continue to have their eyes on the postseason.
The Miami Heat are 5-2 against the Oklahoma Star over the past two seasons.
The Oklahoma Stars are 2-4 against the Houston Rockets this season and have won two of three.
This will be the second meeting between the two clubs in the regular season, as neither team has played in the first round of the playoffs since 2007.
Both teams have been eliminated from the playoffs in the conference finals two of the past three seasons.
Both squads have won the two matchups with a combined record of 21-17.
This game will be broadcast live on ABC Sports Network, ESPN, and ESPN2.
The third game will take place in the fourth quarter of Game 3 of the conference semifinals.
